Dear Queen of Peace Families,
Our hearts and prayers are with Catholic schools and all those affected by the recent hurricanes. Many people in our school community have been asking, “How can they help?”
Queen of Peace School, in conjunction with the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) is answering this question by conducting a campaign asking every Catholic school family around the country to contribute at least $1 per student to help Catholic schools impacted by the storm to rebuild, re-open, and re-enroll students. This is a powerful opportunity to engage students in living the Gospel message of compassionate service to others.
Our teachers have included a message about this in the past week’s newsletters. We invite you and your family to help us reach out to the thousands of Catholic school children who need our support by contributing at least $1.00 per student by tomorrow, Friday September 29th.
This collection will be brought up in the Offertory procession at our school mass this week.
We are confident that the children and families of our school and parish will rise to this occasion and make a contribution to help their peers in other Catholic schools, whose lives have been turned upside down by the disaster of these recent hurricanes.
For more information, you may visit http://ncea.org/STS (You may need to copy the link into your web browser.)
We are still in need of a part-time staff member (or some parent volunteers) to help with our After-School Program. At least TWO adults are required in order to have After-School Club open. That is, at least one more adult in addition to Ms. Sarah. So far, we have been getting by with substitute help, but it would be best for the children if we can have the same adult staff for all five days each week.
Please call the school (218-879-8516) or send Mrs. Megan Kalm an email if you can help one or more days next week. (email@example.com) And, please tell friends or relatives who might like a part-time job. Pay is $9.50 per hour.
With current staffing, we may not be able to offer after-school care without extra help. Wednesdays have been particularly busy with high student numbers.
Are you interested in substitute teaching? If you have a four-year degree (in any subject), you like working with elementary-age students, and pass the background check process, you can be on our list to sub. Pay is $100 per full-day.
Countdown to Accreditation Renewal Site-Team visit – 5 ½ weeks and counting!
Every seven years, non-public schools are required to work through a rigorous process of self-study and review, which includes being visited by a site-team from MNSAA (Minnesota Non-Public School Accreditation Association). Last year, we conducted the Self-Study and drafted a new School Strategic Plan. We will have a team visiting Queen of Peace on October 30 and 31. We may need some help from parents on providing snacks and coffee, or other support for the team.
