Dear Queen of Peace Families,
Catholic Schools Week begins this Sunday, January 28th! Please join us at the 9:30 a.m. Mass: Students are asked to wear their uniforms to Mass on this Sunday, especially those who have a helper role in the Mass. There are also many other activities during the coming week. A copy of the week’s schedule is attached.
Catholic Schools Week begins this Sunday January 28th and goes through Friday February 2nd. All families are invited, especially for the Mass and Grandparent’s Day activities on Friday.
Please check the attachment for a list of next week’s many special activities. And, if you have friends or relatives who might be considering Queen of Peace School, please share the second attached document which lists future events and the many positives to celebrate at our Catholic school.
We are in need of volunteers for set up, cooking, serving, and clean up for Grandparents Day on Friday Feb. 2nd.
Please let the school office know by THIS Friday (Jan 26th) if you are able to help out.

Mardi Gras is coming on Saturday February 10th !!! — Update:
Queen of Peace School Mardi Gras Dance and Silent Auction is just 2 weeks away. As our fundraiser has become more successful, so has the need for lots of help. Please see the volunteer sign-up sheet posted in the school. We hope that most of you can make it to the event and help in some area. The Mardi Gras committee will have some of the members stepping down after this year and we are hopeful more school parents will want to share their talents by stepping into some of the committee roles and ensure the continued success of this fundraiser. Attending is a great way to see what it is all about!
If you have any questions on the $5, $10, $15 Baskets: contact Becci Erickson via email email@example.com or via text at 218-380-1053
If you have any questions regarding Silent Auctions: contact Norlene Bleskacek at firstname.lastname@example.org or 213-4951.
Some of the Mardi Gras committee will be going out this Saturday night, Jan 27th for supper, and continuing the night with a friendly competition of selling Mardi Gras raffle tickets. If you are interested in an evening out and wish to join us, contact Norlene at 213-4951. The more the merrier!
Mardi Gras is coming on Saturday Feb 10th – SAVE the DATE!
It is THE event of the year! Be sure to attend!
The Catholic Schools Raffle continues!
Top sellers from each grade will get an entry into a drawing to win gift cards or cash!
We can sell tickets anywhere in Minnesota (and by mail with out-of-state friends and relatives) between the dates of January 12 and February 25. Last year we raised a total of $11,400 for our school. This year’s goal is $19,000. Can we reach it? If everyone pitches in, the answer is yes!
Sixty $5.00 tickets have been assigned to each family, for a total value of $300. Some of us can sell more, and some fewer, but we can all help! Several families have had good results connecting with other area churches, as well as with extended family and friends. A member of our parish won a free vacation at Wisconsin Dells last year. The top prize is $20,000 or a 2018 Chevy Trax SUV! Please remember all sold ticket stubs AND ALL unsold tickets must be returned to comply with Minnesota gaming laws. The purchased ticket stubs must have the buyer’s contact information, so they can be notified of winning a prize. Persons 18-years of age and older are eligible to win!
Is anyone, or perhaps two families together, interested in hosting a Soup Supper during Lent?
This is a Catholic tradition of coming to the church on a Friday evening for the Stations of the Cross prayers, and then having a meatless “soup supper” afterward.
Stations of the Cross will begin at 5:30 pm, so the soup can be brought in a crockpot and will need to be ready to serve around 5:50 or so. Donations of different kinds of meatless soups, some rolls or bread sticks, and probably some fresh veggies are needed. Coffee, water and lemonade mix will already be there and there won’t be a need for paper products, as the napkins and cups that are there can be used.
Our two 2018 teams are the Tune-Tastics (Elementary Level- Fine Arts category) and the Super-Joopers (Middle Level- Scientific category)! Their meetings have started. Go creative kids!
